walking group option
Our Charm City Run walking group is a great opportunity for those who are interested in running (but maybe not ready to jump right in) to get to know Charm City Run, how the groups work and the people who are involved. It is also a great way for those that may have had to take a break from running to stay involved in the community. As it is fairly new, the walking locations and distances will be designed around the goals of the group itself to a certain extent, but generally will start with shorter distances and lower difficulty levels and work to be able to finish the race and reach any other intended goals.
advanced 5K training option
Are you ready to take your 5K training to the next level? This program is designed for runners who have completed previous 5K races and are looking to improve their fitness and speed to finish amongst the top athletes in their respective age groups. While the format of the group is the same as our other 5K groups, the focus of this group will be achieving specific time and place goals for the 5K. If you are ready to put in the work to get faster, this is the group for you!
In order to participate in our Advanced 5K Training Program, you must meet the following criteria:
Have completed a 5K in the past 18 months with the following time standards:
Male 18-39: 22:30 or faster
Male 40 and over: 24:30 or faster
Female 18-39: 25:30 or faster
Female 40 and over: 27:30 or faster

Word on the Street
"When I turned 54, I thought, ‘now is the time to join a running program!’ I did not feel out of place in this group. I felt welcomed and encouraged. So I kept attending and laughing and training and, to my surprise, started to be able to run a short distance without stopping. When I started I literally could not run around a city block without stopping. With many of my friends from my running group, I ran my first 5K without walking at the Baltimore's Women's Classic a few months later. I was so amazed that I was able to accomplish this that I actually cried."
