5K Training

shamrock 5K groups - start January 26th!

Start 2019 with a consistent running routine & train for our biggest 5K of the year!

Whether you are a walker looking to take your first running steps or an experienced 5Ker looking to improve your speed, there is a place in our training group for you! Each group targets a local 5K race but regardless of if you are racing at the end of the program, this group will help you establish a consistent running routine.

This 6-week 5K training program is offered at all Charm City Run locations. You will meet twice a week for supported group runs with your fellow runners and coach - once for a speed workout and once for a distance run in addition to following a weekly training plan. The small group atmosphere will also allow you to connect with other runners in the area.

No running experience necessary! Runners, walkers and run/walkers of all levels welcome!

Our next 5K group starts January 26th and targets the Under Armour KELLY St. Patrick’s Day Shamrock 5K on Sunday, March 10th. Regardless of if you want to race - join the group to start 2019 with a consistent running routine!

Want to learn more about our next 5K Training program? Sign up for an info session at your closest Charm City Run location. Each session will take place directly before the first day of training.* Registered or not, you are welcome to attend the first day and get a feel for the group, meet your coach and ask any questions!

*Please note that for this session, all info sessions will take place directly before your first practice (come ready to run!) except for in Timonium - info session will be the Tuesday before training starts.

"When I turned 54, I thought, ‘now is the time to join a running program!’ I did not feel out of place in this group. I felt welcomed and encouraged. So I kept attending and laughing and training and, to my surprise, started to be able to run a short distance without stopping. When I started I literally could not run around a city block without stopping. With many of my friends from my running group, I ran my first 5K without walking at the Baltimore's Women's Classic a few months later. I was so amazed that I was able to accomplish this that I actually cried.
