**The John W. Brick Foundation was started by Victor and Lynne Brick and was named after Victor's oldest brother, John, who suffered from schizophrenia his entire life and died of complications from the disease. All money raised from the race will go towards a 2-year, $1.2 million, gold-standard study the JWB Foundation is funding in conjunction with the University of California, San Francisco, on how positive stress, in the form of the WHM, High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), and Meditation, affect depression. This study will help the foundation fulfill its mission of funding, conducting, and promoting evidence-based research on how holistic treatments-such as exercise, nutrition, and healthy lifestyle choices-benefit mental health.
