The NFB 6 Dot Dash is an annual 6K race that is organized by the National Federation of the Blind (NFB). The goal of the event is to raise funds that are used to support our programs that help blind people live the lives they want.
Five Reasons to Support the NFB 6 Dot Dash
1. 2018 NFB BELL (Braille Enrichment for Literacy and Learning) Academy – A two week program that provides blind children initial or advanced Braille instruction in fun, interactive ways. The program will be held in over 40 locations all throughout the country this summer.
2. NFB Free White Cane Program – Any blind individual in the United States and Puerto Rico is offered a free white cane every six months because the NFB believes that a cane is a means to independence, safety, and confidence.
3. NFB EQ – The National Federation of the Blind Engineering Quotient (EQ) program is a weeklong summer engineering program for blind and low-vision teens from around the country. NFB EQ is a jam-packed week of fun and learning. Throughout the week, participants will forge new friendships while increasing their engineering knowledge, problem-solving abilities, self-confidence, and independence.
4. NFB Newsline® – A free digital talking newspaper/magazine service that has over 400 publications, TV listings, weather alerts, job listings, and much more. The service can be used over the telephone, computer, iPhone app, or email. The freedom to read what you want, when you want, and where you want, so that you can live the life you want!
5. Supporting Your Community – Since 1978, the National Federation of the Blind has made its home in Baltimore. Why not come out and support a local nonprofit with a fantastic mission?
The NFB is the largest organized group of blind people in the nation. Since 1940, we have been helping blind people live the lives they want through education, advocacy, training, and services, because we know that blindness is not the characteristic that defines blind people or their futures. Your participation and donations go a long way towards furthering our mission.
ENTRY FEES
If you are registering as part of a team please pick or enter that team when prompted to do so during the registration process.
• $30.00 before May 1 (children age 6-12: $5.00)
• $35.00 after May 1 (children age 6-12: $10.00)
• $40.00 Race Day (children age 6-12: $15.00)
• Children 5 and under are FREE
Register by May 1 to receive a tech T-shirt for adults.

Amenities
All runners registered by May 1 will receive a tech T-Shirt for adults. Shirts are not guaranteed after this date.
Water stops and mile markers will be set up throughout the course.
Post-race food and refreshments will be provided to all participants and volunteers.
Course
This 6K kicks off at the NFB Jernigan Institute, and winds through the Baltimore Inner Harbor before finishing back at the NFB. The NFB 6 Dot Dash will be held rain or shine. For the runners' safety, no strollers, skateboards, bikes, or rollerblades are allowed on the course.
Teams
The teams with the most registered participants by June 1 will win a gift certificate to a local restaurant.

Awards
Top three overall male and female.
Top male and female finishers in each of the following age groups: 15 and under, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and over.
Team with the most registered participant.
Post Race Festivities
Please join us for a post-race party and awards ceremony with food and refreshments!
Event Guidelines
Please no roller blades, skates, bikes, dogs, pets or headphones allowed on the race course. Your race number must be worn on your front and must be visible. DO NOT exchange or give your race number to another participant.
