From the City of Rockville Public Information Officer: Predictions of Extreme Weather Lead to Twilight Runfest Cancelation.
The Rockville Rotary, in coordination with the City of Rockville, has canceled this Saturday’s Rockville Rotary Twilight Runfest 8K and Family Fun Run, due to predictions of extreme heat. The safety of runners, staff, volunteers, and spectators is the event organizers’ highest priority. Organizers hope to revise and reschedule the event for fall, if possible.
The 2019 Rockville Rotary Twilight Runfest, known locally as the Twilighter consists of a pre-race festival, a 8k road race, 1 mile family fun run and a post-race festival and party.
Since its inception in 1985, the Twilighter has become one of the most popular races of the summer in the National Capital area.
The pre-race festival will begin at in Downtown Rockville with vendors and family-friendly events beginning at 6:30 p.m. Planned activities - weather permitting - include free kids activities, food vendors, community booths, merchants, and fun.

Exciting News!
The Twilighter is a 8K road race that starts at 8:15 p.m.on North Washington Street in Downtown Rockville. The fun run will start at 7:45. Pre-race staging will be located in Downtown Rockville. The beautiful course runs through a lovely neighborhood and a tour of Montgomery College and ends in downtown Rockville. After the race, runners are invited back to Downtown Rockville for refreshments and music (included in your race registration). The midsummer night’s festival of music, vendors, and refreshments is for runners, spectators, and families to enjoy.

About the Twilighter
Since 1985, The Twilighter has raised and charitably donated more than $2 million dollars, supporting the City of Rockville’s Recreation Fund, and many local, national and international programs and non-profit organizations funded by the Rockville Rotary Club Foundation. These grantees have included local organizations such as Arts for the Aging, Best Buddies Maryland, Community Ministries of Rockville, Cub Scouts, Interfaith Works, Montgomery Community Media, Rockville Cemetery Association, Montgomery Miracles, Nourish Now Foundation, the Richard Montgomery High School Robotics Team, Stepping Stones Shelter, and the Treatment and Learning Centers. Funds raised also support international efforts such as school construction in Haiti, creation of international vision clinics, mammogram education and screening projects in India and, Rotary International’s signature initiative, PolioPlus.
