You Don't Have To Be a Runner - What I've Learned at CCR

I first heard about Charm City Run when my mother was sent there by her foot doctor. Once she went there, she loved it. Little did I know that two years later I would cold email them about an internship opportunity. They were one of five places that I emailed and the only one that responded back, for which I’m very thankful. Now let’s be clear, I’m no runner.

I’m a high school senior and I’ve played soccer for 15 years of my life. I’ve always been interested in fitness and am pretty into lifting. It became an outlet for me that has helped my mental health tremendously, and I know that it’s helped many other people too.

Most people think that Charm City Run is just a place for runners, but it's so much more! It’s a store that can cater to everyone's needs. From selling different brands of shoes to apparel and accessories. Yes, most of the people that work there are runners or like to run. But that doesn't mean that the customers have to be runners. I know this for a fact as I can run about 3 miles before thinking I might keel over. Yet, I still have an internship and shop there all the time. So, the theory that everyone has to be runners is not true at all.

This thought is pretty funny because many of the people that come into the store come due to a recommendation from a doctor. As I said before, my mother first went there because her doctor told her to go get a good shoe fitting as she was being treated for a foot ailment. She loved it so much that she kept going back and telling others about her experience. I’ve seen and witnessed so many different people come into the store. People of all ages come and buy different items, whether they are runners or walkers.

The store might be one of the most inclusive stores that I have been to, and I truly mean that. The many services they provide are beneficial for everyone. From running to walking training and a wide variety of races. Everyone has the chance to join the community! I’ve seen some of the walkers in 5k training groups cross that finish line and have the biggest smiles on their face. It’s truly amazing to see and super inspirational. This could be you too, all you need to do is buy a good pair of shoes.
