Ultra Trail Training
stone mill 50 or jfk 50
At Charm City Run our goal is to safely train runners towards reaching their goals of finishing your first 50 miler, achieving PR and everything in between. The power of the group atmosphere makes the journey fun and enjoyable while encouragement from your coaches makes the long runs much easier.
Each group will meet twice a week for 20 weeks for runs and learn about hydration, trail running, easy runs, recovery runs, hydration, nutrition, injury prevention and much more along the way. Weekday runs will consist of hills and track workouts. Weekend morning runs will be trail runs at local parks, unless weather forces us to stay on the roads.
To safely meet your goal of the 50 miler, we do ask that you have completed at least one marathon distance and have a strong base level of trail running under your belt. Are you not sure if you meet these requirements? Don’t worry, ask the coach at your location on the information night.
Training Dates & Times
Our fall ultra group will start on June 25th and train for the Stone Mill 50 Mile or JFK 50 Mile or any other ultra in the same time frame.

Word on the Street
1. The two most important things I’ve learned in training is to have patience and persistence. You are not going to get fast or super fit over night. You learn from watching others grow and from monitoring yourself that it takes time. Persistence comes from the accountability you feel towards the rest of the group. We are undertaking this together, and you feel responsible to your teammates.
2. Over many years of training with CCR I have learned the value of rest and recovery. This goes hand in hand with the patience requirement. Doubling up on your miles is not going to get you fit faster. It is going to get you injured. I learned this the hard way. The training plans we follow stress the importance of ramping up gradually and getting the rest you need to make your body stronger in the long run.
