Giddy Up 5K Run/Walk and 1 Mile Family Fun Walk

  • Padonia Park Club 12006 Jenifer Rd Cockeysville, MD 21030 United States (map)

The Giddy Up 5K Run/Walk was started to celebrate the life of Catie Carnes, while at the same time raise money to support the needs of children diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes! This year, we will again partner with University of Maryland Children's Hospital and University of Maryland Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology, to support their research efforts and care of children with diabetes. We are excited to see monies raised at the Giddy Up being used right here in Baltimore...all donated in Catie's name.

BENEFICIARY

The Catie Carnes Foundation, Inc. is organized exclusively for charitable and/or educational purposes. These purposes include: raising funds for, but not exclusively for, organizations that support the research and cure of Juvenile Diabetes, organizations that support the special needs of children diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes, and any nonprofit organizations upon the approval of the Board of Directors: Denise Carnes, Wendy Gallo and Kelly Brill.

We lost her too soon. We want to celebrate the beautiful person that was Catie, all 18 years of her. We want to keep her name alive, spoken out loud. We want to raise money to help find a cure for Juvenile Diabetes. Catie was diagnosed when she was just 11 years old, and it is quite possible that the pulmonary embolism (a circulatory complication) that took her life was a complication of Juvenile Diabetes. It is our greatest hope that monies raised through this foundation make a difference to those currently suffering from JD, and possibly help to cure this disease.
