FLYING DOG SPRINT FOR SPAT CANCELLED
Flying Dog Brewery has made the difficult decision to cancel all events in 2020 including Sprint for Spat.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is asking that employers do everything possible to slow the spread of COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus. We are following all of the procedures recommended by the CDC and OSHA in order to provide a safe, clean, healthy work environment for our employees.
In addition to our ongoing internal health and safety practices, given the recent guidance from the CDC and direction from Governor Hogan about limiting attendance at large gatherings, we have made the decision to close our tasting room as well as an extra precaution to protect the health and safety of our employees and our community. Brewery operations are not affected at this time.
For those already registered, refunds will be issued within the week as we work with our partners at runsignup.com. We look forward to drinking beers and running (or…walking, or maybe, just drinking) with all of you in a world where it’s safe to do so again. Join us on October 10 for the second annual Flying Dog Sprint for Spat— a running extravaganza unlike any other on the planet. Proceeds from the race will go toward our partnership with the Oyster Recovery Partnership, a non-profit committed to rebuilding the oyster population in the Chesapeake Bay Area. Stick around after you finish for live music, fresh oysters, well-crafted beers, and general post-race debauchery.

Beer Mile Relay - 4 participants per team (includes Beer Mile Relay entry, t-shirt, finisher’s medal, 1 beer per person during each 1/4-mile leg of the race, and 1 beer per person to enjoy after the race. Also, option to enter in the .10k race with oyster “shooter”)

Note: Beer Mile Relay teams are required enter an estimated time range for their team to complete the entire mile during the registration process. There will be two heats this year and we will be splitting these up based on race team’s times. While this is a FUN race, please be honest in your answers so we can do our best to match people up.
Heat times will be at 10:30am and 12pm. These is NO switching of times. Please make sure you are available for both times. You will be notified of your team number and heat time ONE WEEK prior to the race.

Spectator Ticket (includes one beer):
$5 - Sip on a pint of beer while gawking at other people doing athletic stuff. Even if you’re not a runner, come check out the madness and support your friends and family members so one day they leave you good stuff in their will. NEW THIS YEAR: Spectator tickets will be available for purchase at the gate on race day ONLY. ALL SPECTATORS MUST BE 21+ WITH A VALID I.D., NO EXCEPTIONS. AND STILL, NO ONE UNDER 21.

There are no refunds of entry given or transfers of entry permitted for this event. Please note that if you have a spectator joining you and you want them to be a VIP too, you MUST purchase them a VIP pass as well.

The Sprint for Spat 10K makes a loop beginning at the Flying Dog brewery and ending at the Flying Dog brewery. That’s what a loop is after all. Along the way, you will be inspired by picturesque views of Frederick’s natural beauty… flowers, birds, trees, more trees, weird-shaped rocks, wild animals eating smaller wild animals. You know, nature stuff.

AMENITIES
All entrants in the 10K and the Beer Mile Relay receive one beer, t-shirt, finishers medal and an oyster shooter during the .10K. The 10K is chip timed. All spectators (spectator ticket needed) will receive one beer.
PARKING
Parking is offsite for this event but is walkable. There will also be shuttles throughout the day to and from the brewery.

The Oyster Recovery Partnership is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that designs and implements sustainable oyster restoration, aquaculture and commercial fishery activities to improve the environment and expand economic opportunities in the Chesapeake Bay. Over the past two decades, ORP has planted nearly 8 billion oysters on 2,460 underwater acres throughout Maryland.
