Whether you’re a seasoned duathlete or a first timer, the Maryland Duathlon is the race for you. The course is appropriate for all experience levels including first-timers. Charm City Run is proud to be the official timer for the Maryland Duathlon.

Event Information

It is the participant's responsibility to know the course and be properly trained for it. Race officials reserve the right to pull a participant from the course if it appears the participant is a hazard to themselves or other participants. 

$2,400 Purse Prize

A total purse prize of $2,400 will be awarded to top finishers of the Sprint & Olympic Duathlon races.

Participants who complete both the Maryland Sprint AND Olympic Duathlon will earn a third finisher medal and swag! Be sure to register for the Maryland Duathlon as a DUthe2 Participant! 

The Maryland Duathlon is excited to announce and participate in the 2017 USA Triathlon Mid-Atlantic Region Duathlon Series! Register for the series (it's free), complete 3 duathlons and earn a FINISHER MEDAL! To register for the series, click HERE. 

The 2017 Maryland Duathlon is part of the USA Duathlon National Race Series! All athletes participating in the 2017 Duathlon Race Series will receive a special item at each event. To earn a series score, athletes must complete at least two events. Each race is a USA Triathlon Sanctioned Event and will count toward the popular end-of-year Duathlon National Rankings for USA Triathlon annual members.


Packet Pickup

Friday, July 14 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Western Regional Park.

Saturday, July 15 from 5:30 AM to 7:45 AM at Western Regional Park. 

YOUTH - Saturday, July 15 from 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM at Western Regional Park

Saturday, July 15 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Western Regional Park.

Sunday, July 16 from 5:30 AM to 7:45 AM at Western Regional Park.

Participants registered for the DUthe2 Challenge (both Sprint & Olympic races) are only required to check in once. Race materials for both races will be given to these athletes at packet pick up. BIKE RACKING FOR BOTH RACES WILL BE ON RACE DAY ONLY.

All registered entrants, including all relay team members, MUST attend packet pickup in person. Per USAT rules, each participant MUST pick up his/her own packet. If you do not check in during the designated check-in times in person, you will not be able to participate in the event. All participants, including youth (16 and under) must bring the following to packet pickup:

Photo ID

USAT membership card to show proof of annual membership unless you purchased a one-day USAT event insurance at the time you registered for the event.

5:30 AM - Transition Area Opens, Bike Racking, Body Marking

6:45 AM - Transition Area  Closes

7:00 AM – Wave 1, Elite Men

7:01 AM – Wave 2, Elite Women

7:03 AM – Wave 3, Age Group Men

7:05 AM – Wave 4, Age Group Women

7:07 AM – Wave 5, ALL Relay Teams & ASA

10:15 AM (Saturday Only) - Start of Youth Race, 7-10 Year Olds

11:00 AM (Saturday Only) - Start of Youth Race, 11-14 Year Olds 

Youth Race

9:00 AM – Athlete Check-In, Transition Area Opens (bike racking and gear set-up), Body Marking*

10:15 AM - 7-10 yr old Boys and Girls, Start

11:00 AM - 11-14 yr old Boys and Girls, Start


Post Race & Awards

Enjoy post race food after crossing the finish line. All participants will receive a finisher medal at the finish line. The award ceremony will be located near the finish area. Awards will be given to participants who earn 1st through 3rd place (male & female) in their age group division.

Cash awards are available to athletes racing in the Open Division* only for both the Sprint and Olympic race.
