Founded in 2002, our mission is to inspire and move the human spirit one sole at a time. We love this statement. Charm City Run Events produces over 100 endurance sporting events per year, and over 85,000 runners and walkers cross a Charm City Run finish line every year. Charm City Run Training prepares over 2,200 people per year for events from a 5K through an ultra marathon. The Live. Give. Run. Foundation has donated two million dollars in 21 years and Charm City Run Events helps local non-profits raise over $500,000 a year for their respective causes.
Your Job:
The Event Manager is an in-person position responsible for pre-race planning, race-day execution, and post-race follow-up for events assigned by the Director of Events. You will manage both contracted events for clients, as well as several Charm City Run Signature events. Training is provided as needed for race-specific operations.
Responsibilities:
Manage the complete life cycle for events assigned by the Director of Events, including contracting, permitting, ordering of deliverables, management of staff, timing and scoring, and invoicing
Assist in the development and completion of event budgets, as well as the creation of P&L statements for managed events
Coordinate with the Event Support Associate to identify charitable partners for events you manage, and determine volunteer needs and positions at each event
Prepare, submit, and track all event permits for internal and external events in coordination with Director of Operations
Demonstrate proficiency in race timing software used in order to time and score events independently
Coordinate with staff to determine event equipment needs and assist in the loading and unloading of vehicles for assigned events as needed
Provide excellent customer service to clients and the general public by handling questions and providing event information as needed by phone and through the events@charmcityrun.com email address
Maintain relationships with event partners & stakeholders, including race directors, police, and equipment vendors
Manage packet pick up sessions for signature and managed events as needed
Complete administrative tasks assigned in the management of events
Uphold moral and ethical standards set by Charm City Run within the workplace and community at large
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree OR 2+ years of relevant experience in event planning or similar field
Weekend availability throughout the year based on event calendar
Ability to commute daily to the Charm City Run Events office in Cockeysville, MD
Keen attention to detail in planning, organization and execution of tasks, while still seeing the big picture and understanding how all the pieces fit together and affect one another.
Creative and conceptual thinker rooted in the runner, and runner journey
Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills that inspire and build trust resulting in effective working relationships across the company.
Proactive and highly motivated self-starter with a results oriented and goal driven mindset.
Ability to anticipate how a decision made can affect our customers, our partners, our events or other departments’ operations and/or morale
