EVENTS MARKETING manager - Charm city run

Charm City Run is a running and walking specialty company consisting of 8 retail locations and an events and training division. Founded in 2002, our mission is to inspire and move the human spirit one sole at a time. We love this statement. It’s a lofty goal, but we have a humble and perhaps ignorant belief that we can do this every day.  Charm City Run Events produces over 130 endurance sporting events per year. Over 85,000 runners and walkers cross a Charm City Run finish line every year. Charm City Run Training prepares over 2,200 people per year for events from a 5K through an ultra marathon. The Live. Give. Run. Foundation has donated over two million dollars in 21 years and Charm City Run Events helps local non-profits raise over $500,000 a year for their respective causes.  

Reports To:

The Events Marketing Manager will report to the Events Director and Marketing Director.

Your Job:

The Events Marketing Manager is responsible for developing, executing, and reporting on strategic-level marketing initiatives for Charm City Run Events. You will coordinate digital campaigns, in-store promotions, and event-based promotions surrounding Charm City Run Signature Events with the Charm City Run Marketing Team to connect with existing customers and reach new runners. You will maintain a 12-month marketing calendar and coordinate with senior leadership, store leads, and staff. You will work closely with the Director of Marketing to coordinate with running specialty brands and 3rd-party vendors to manage digital campaigns and brand activations at Charm City Run races.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Events Director and Marketing Director to develop event marketing plan based on seasonal themes and growth goals for Signature Events

  • Create and execute marketing calendar for the year including ad campaigns, in-store promotions, etc. surrounding races

  • Identify the most effective marketing channels for events to reach more diverse runners and work with Marketing team to execute on plan

  • Own and manage events marketing budget and track & report ROI on marketing investments

  • Attend bi-weekly leadership meetings and communicate upcoming marketing initiatives to store leads.

  • Work with the Live. Give. Run. Foundation to properly message and promote CCR Giving through CCR races

  • Assist Director of Marketing with digital campaigns managed by third party

  • Oversee race section of charmcityrun.com website and individual race websites to maintain current, accurate information

  • Work in coordination with Director Of Marketing to secure funds from vendors for digital investment and manage those relationships

  • Collaborate with Social Media Marketing Manager to promote events through Facebook, Instagram, and other platforms

  • Ensure print marketing materials (posters, rack cards, etc.) are current and displayed in all stores

  • Attend Signature races and work with Marketing team and photo/video/production vendors to oversee media creation

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or Communications

  • Minimum 2+years relevant experience in brand marketing or similar field

  • Proven experience in developing and implementing marketing strategies

  • Strong working knowledge of all marketing mediums to develop and create the most compelling campaigns

  • Keen attention to detail in planning, organization and execution of tasks, while still seeing the big picture and understanding how all the pieces fit together and affect one another.

  • Creative and conceptual thinker rooted in the runner, and runner journey

  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills that inspire and build trust resulting in effective working relationships across the company.

  • Proactive and highly motivated self-starter with a results oriented and goal driven mindset.

  • Ability to anticipate how a decision made can affect our customers, our partners, our events or other departments’ operations and/or morale

  • Demonstration of innovation and initiative – always looking at improving our processes while also displaying a willingness to dive into the details and help out wherever necessary.
