Meet the Physical Therapist
Katy Castell, DPT
Katy Castell is the clinical director for Pivot Physical Therapy in our Clarksville/River Hill location. Katy has had the opportunity to work with patients from a wide range of ages and diagnoses. She began her career in an outpatient physical therapy clinic in Southern Maryland where she gained valuable experience managing sports related injuries in athletes of all ages; especially working with young athletes. Katy has a strong interest in the way muscles affect pain and surrounding joints and values the benefits of hands-on treatment and manual therapy. Katy has trained to utilize Trigger Point Dry Needling in order to further help the release of tight musculature.
Katy has always been interested in wellness and health. In high school, she was a member of a competitive dance group, as well as playing lacrosse. Her active lifestyle ultimately led her to a career in physical therapy. She has stayed close to her Maryland roots during her education. She received her Bachelor’s of Science degree in general business from University of Maryland, College Park in 2008 and went on to receive her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from University of Maryland, Baltimore in 2012.
Outside of the clinic, Katy likes to stay active. She has a particular interest in Pilates exercise which she practices weekly. She also loves spending time with her husband and daschund, being outdoors and playing intramural sports.
