Frederick Runner of the Month "Mom Edition" - Lisa Johnston (May 2015)

Lisa Johnston a mother of 6, a friend to many, dog lover and an ultrarunning fanatic. A runner that recently pulled off a stellar performance at the C & O 100 winning first female in a whopping time of 21:38. With 5 -100 mile finishes (and many more to come in ’15) she exudes excellence in the Frederick ultrarunning community.

As one of Lisa’s friends I can account for the fact that a run with Lisa is ALWAYS a good time. Going for a run with Lisa is a like “night out” with your best girlfriend. Your conversation is guaranteed to fill up the trails with non-stop talking and a whole lot of laughter. On our many trail runs, I have seen Lisa literally float along the trail with complete happiness and grace (partly due to her ballet background.) She is completely in her element on the trail…

Lisa is a woman that truly defines the word determination. A mom with a mission and a friend always willing to lend an ear, on or off the trail. I must worn you though, if you happen to go out for a run with Lisa, you might find yourself signing for an ultra or ultra distance you never thought possible for yourself to ever run. Her energy and encouragement to do just simply “do more” is contagious.

So without further ado, we present to you in this very special “Mom Edition” of ROTM, ultrarunning mother of 6 Lisa Johnston.
