We are incredibly proud to have been awarded the Balega Ubuntu Award at The Running Event 2022.
The Balega Ubuntu Award was created to acknowledge businesses that give back and make a difference in their local communities. The inspiration for the award was from the humanistic philosophy of focusing on people’s allegiance and their relationship to one another. According to Balega, “It is the relationship to our communities that resonates with store owners every day in their hometowns - changing lives and helping to improve the lives of those living in our communities.”
Our Owner/Founder Josh Levinson says about receiving the award, “The Charm City Run challenge is to be an important organization beyond what we do in RUN. We have worked over the last 20 years to make the largest positive impact in our community possible. For Balega to recognize these efforts in Maryland was humbling and meaningful to the Charm City Run family.”
The Ubuntu Award was given by Paul Perrone, Global Vice President of Business Development for Implus LLC, on the final day of The Running Event.
“Our team at Balega is proud to present this year’s Ubuntu Award to Charm City Run,” Perrone said. “They have a deep belief in - and commitment to - their community at large. They understand the responsibility and opportunity to serve their city as local business owners. They recognize that through the relationships they have developed with their vendors and their customers that they are in a unique position to support positive growth for the city they love and those that are less fortunate in their community.”
The Ubuntu Award was not the only recognition we are proud to have received at The Running Event. Charm City Run also received the award for Top Running Store, and our President, Tom Mansfield, also received the Run Happy Rising Star Award presented by Brooks Running. According to Brooks Running, this award was created to recognize individuals who are “shaping the future of run specialty.” It celebrates those individuals who are moving the running specialty industry forward and challenging themselves and those around them to be better.
