This year’s Baltimore Women’s Classic 5K is on June 26, 2016. I’ve run this 5K the past 3 years, and it is one of my favorites in the area! I love that it is such a celebration of women’s running and is a very well-organized event. Besides just being one of my favorite summer races, here are my 5 reasons why YOU should run the Baltimore Women’s Classic (BWC) 5K:
Insider's Guide to the Sole of the City 10K
So you are running the Sole of the City 10K (if not-- hurry up and register-- it will sell out before race day). Here are a few pointers to get you to the start line on time and across the finish line to soak in the post race festival.
Get Your Race Packet
Race day is much easier when you have your packet ahead of time. Locations and the times the packets will be there are listed here. If you are picking up for someone else be sure to bring a printed note we can retain for proof.
Eating for a 10K
You committed to run the Sole of the City 10K, you’ve logged some tough miles over the past weeks, and now the event is almost here! But do you have a plan for eating in the days and hours before your race to ensure that you’ll be well-fueled and ready to run? I’ve got you covered with a simple checklist…

From the Road to the Trails: Finding (and Loving) Trail Running
I have been running for the past 2.5 years, and most of my experience has been on the road. Completing 3 marathons, numerous half marathons, 10ks, 5ks, and even an obstacle race or 3, I never had any real experience with running trails. However, after completing my 2nd marathon, I found myself unmotivated and almost ready to leave running behind. That’s when I found ultramarathons and trail running.
Introducing the new Superfeet OUTSIDE Sandal
We spend a lot of time talking about the right footwear to wear while running (and rightfully so!), but what about the other hours in the day? Finding attractive, supportive shoes can be difficult, especially in the summer. That's why we were pretty excited when we heard Superfeet was coming out with their new Outside sandals this year and think you will be, too.
Do I Need to Eat on My Runs?
When new runners first come to Charm City Run, they’re often surprised to see the racks and racks of brightly colored packets of carbohydrate-rich “goo,” bars and jelly beans in flavors ranging from chocolate to watermelon to cucumber; wafers and cookies; fizzy tablets; and pre-, post- and during-run drinks. It’s no surprise that one of the most common questions I get from runners these days is whether and when to consume this specialized runner nutrition.
Running Untethered: A review of the new Under Armour Speedform Gemini 2 Record
As a general rule, I have been told 300-500 miles should be the life expectancy of a pair of running shoes. I had just passed 300 miles in my Brooks Ghost, so I stopped by Charm City Run. My buddy Tom hooked me up with a pair of the new Under Armour Speedform Gemini 2 Record - a shoe that tracks distance (and more), untethered - and asked me to try them out.
Shamrock 5k Race Recap!
Happy (Belated) St. Patrick's Day! While I'm not even the slightest bit Irish, I wholeheartedly enjoy pulling out some green and getting into the spirit, and this year that included participating in Sunday's Under Armour Kelly St. Patrick's Day Shamrock 5k, for the first time since 2013. Even though that was 3 years ago, I vividly remember that 5k, mainly because I really had to use the restroom, so I was highly motivated to run as fast as possible. I also overlooked the fact that there was no bag check, and opted to run with the UA knapsack on my back...rookie mistake.
Spicing Up Your Spring Wardrobe
Spring officially starts this Sunday, and I know I'm not the only one bursting with excitement! After Jonas, it was hard to imagine that we'd be warm and dry again, but if the weather keeps up it'll be time to pack away the bulky winter apparel and let the next season's wardrobe breathe a bit. This got me to thinking about spring and as often happens; one thought led to another, led to shopping. Yup - it's time to start planning your spring wardrobe and this includes your spring workout gear! The warm days are coming and you don't want to get caught without a stylish new outfit to wear, do you? Don't worry - you don't need to break the bank or replace your entire closet, but as we all know having something cute and new and fun makes working out less painful and a lot more enjoyable. ( Ok - it can still be painful after a couple extended snow days of comfort food and comfort wine but ....)
